POKER PISSED ME OFF!

FIRST OF ALL
If you don’t know me let me tell you that I really enjoy poker. The game is like life in the way that you deal with people and how you have to interact with people differently. I enjoy trying to figure people out and trying to adjust my game, just like I have adjusted my life to be successful at the table. I am a “winning” player, which really means that I win more than I lose, but not much. Let me put it to you this way: I win enough to make me continue playing at least once a week when time allows but not quite enough to go pro yet. =)
HERE IS WHAT PISSES ME OFF
I just watched the finale of this years world series of poker. I think I like watching poker almost as much as I like playing it I know that puts me in the “Platypus TV nerd” category but I don’t care. I enjoy watching the game and the World Series (from this point referred to as WSOP) that much. Poker on TV is real people going head to head in a competitive atmosphere and only the smartest/luckiest survive. It could be me or you or the guy down the street and THAT is what makes watching it on TV so exciting. At the WSOP it seems and amateur wins every year. This year over 6,000 people ponied up $10,000 in cash to participate in a tournament that paid out over 8 million dollars to the first place finisher. That finisher was Mr. Jerry Yang.
Know that I have given you the basic background of the WSOP, let me tell you what pissed me off.
During the final table Yang entered into an all-in pot with another player and as the cards were being dealt, they both started to pray. Now they weren’t just praying, they were competing in prayer, each one trying to get louder than the other so that “God” could hear them. As more card were being dealt they started to pray even faster and louder and to be honest I got sick to my stomach. Who the fuck are we kidding here guys?? YOU ARE GAMBLING!!!! I don’t think I have ever seen a more hypocritical moment on television. Watching two people, one probably a “former” Buddhist (Yang is from Louse), pretty much beg and plead with the god that they believe in to give them 8 million dollars…it was pathetic

Last years WSOP final lady to be eliminated was Sable Cohen. Sable is a sweet woman and a hell of a poker player but she resembles Jab the Hut so closely that if you were would be surprised if she had Han Solo mounted frozen on her bedroom wall. THIS YEAR however we were graced with the pleasure of having Mario Ho as the final lady in the tournament….what a fox this girl is!! I had never heard of her until this year but with my more than mild obsession with Asian women I am hoping to see more of her!!!!
